Your art is trendy in Russia and Ukraine. I put my heart and soul into my works because they should appeal to the Art Basel audience. I'd probably choose LA, since it's been my home for so long and where I've evolved as an Artist. If you were to choose a city to make a "My City, My Vibe" sticker pack for, which would it be and why? What would be some elements of the city you would highlight?ĪM: That's a tough one. TH: You are from NYC, but now are living in LA. TH: Have you always been drawn to character art?ĪM: I've always loved iconic imagery that draws people in. The beauty of Art is that people interpret it in their own way, and now I feel that my art has become more of a symbol of ambition and success and motivation. TH: How did you select the iconic Monopoly and Richie Rich characters to play with in your artwork?ĪM: I started painting ‘The Monopoly Man’ in 2008 during the height of the Economic Recession, as a satire against capitalism. Acting as a guest judge for Viber's " My City, My Vibe" Creative Invite, the artist gives us some insight into what he is looking for in submissions. Los Angeles based artist Alec Monopoly has made a name for himself by decorating abandoned buildings and warehouses around the world with iconic characters.
